A Commitment Born from Loss, Sustained by Purpose
Elara Foundation began as a deeply personal act of tribute. When Shri Rajendra Bhatt — founder of Elara Capital — lost his father, Shri Liladhar Bhatt, he chose to honour that memory not with stone or ceremony, but with sustained, meaningful action.
In 2002, he established the Dr. Liladhar Bhatt Memorial Kalyan Samiti — a registered NGO based in Haldwani, Uttarakhand — as the ground-level vehicle for the Foundation's mission. From the very beginning, the model was clear: Elara Capital would absorb all operational costs, so that every rupee raised went directly to communities in need.
"Beyond boardrooms, Raj is deeply committed to social responsibility — championing transformative initiatives in education, healthcare, women's empowerment, and animal welfare across underserved communities in India."
Over two decades, the Foundation has grown from a single act of remembrance into a multi-programme organisation supporting five partner NGOs, working across six focus areas, and touching thousands of lives across Uttarakhand and beyond.
