Kavita: A Story of Strength and Success

In the serene town of Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, a remarkable girl was born blind. Her journey of resilience and triumph is a testament to the power of determination and support. Nurtured by the unwavering encouragement of Mr. Raj Bhatt, she was inspired to dream beyond limitations. Her education began at Sharp Memorial Blind School in Dehradun, where she not only excelled academically but also developed self-reliance and confidence. Her journey then took her to MBPG College in Haldwani, where she lived at the National Association for the Blind (NAB) hostel. The transition was challenging, but her spirit remained unshaken. She thrived in her studies, excelled in extracurricular activities, and forged lifelong friendships.

Her passion for music led her to Sri Ram Bharti Kala Kendra in New Delhi, where she honed her talent under the guidance of renowned teachers. Music became her voice and a medium to connect with the world. Determined to expand her horizons, she pursued an IT diploma at the All India Confederation of the Blind (AICB) in Rohini, mastering technology with remarkable dedication. Her hard work and perseverance paid off when she secured a role as a Senior Technical Lead at HCL, a leading IT company. There, she used her technical expertise and inspired everyone around her.

At Dr. Liladhar Bhatt Memorial Kalyan Samiti, we are honored to have supported her incredible journey. Her story reaffirms our belief that with determination, opportunity, and support, no dream is beyond reach.

Bharti’s Triumph Over Adversity

Born into a humble farming family in Kalusidh, Ramnagar, Nainital district, Bharti’s life took a heartbreaking turn at just 10 years old. A tragic accident involving forest poachers and explosives left her severely injured, resulting in the loss of both arms. What could have been a life-shattering incident instead ignited an extraordinary story of resilience, courage, and triumph.

Initially overwhelmed by immense physical and emotional pain, Bharti found hope through the unwavering support of Mr. Sandeep Rawat and the USR Indu Committee. Their guidance enabled her to attend a special school, where she discovered her potential and mastered skills such as painting, sewing, and beautician training. Determined to rise above her challenges, Bharti excelled academically, completing her secondary and intermediate education against all odds. With the support of Dr. Liladhar Bhatt Memorial Kalyan Samiti, she pursued her passion for theatre arts, earning a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Kurukshetra University.

Today, Bharti stands as an inspiration to her community, a shining example of resilience and the power of community support. Her journey from a small village to becoming a respected artist and role model proves that even the toughest challenges can be overcome with strength, determination, and compassion.

Savita: From Uttarakhand to Mt. Lhotse

Savita Kanwal’s journey from the tranquil mountains of Uttarakhand to the summit of Mount Lhotse is a tale of unwavering courage and resilience. Growing up in a traditional society, Savita faced immense challenges, particularly as a woman pursuing a dream of mountaineering. Her love for climbing began with daily 4 km treks to school, and her involvement in an adventure foundation sparked by the Uttarakhand government further fueled her passion. However, the path to the peaks was far from easy. Savita struggled with societal norms, convincing her parents and community to support her ambitions. Financial constraints added another layer of difficulty. But thanks to the Dr. Liladhar Bhatt Memorial Society’s financial assistance, Savita’s dreams began to take shape.

Her journey began with smaller climbs like Mount Draupadi Ka Danda and Mount Trishul, eventually leading to monumental summits such as Mount Lhotse in 2021—the fourth highest peak in the world. Conquering Lhotse was an intense test of both physical endurance and mental strength. Navigating past fallen climbers on the final stretch was a moment of doubt, but Savita’s determination and memories of her humble beginnings carried her to the summit.
